Rowan Investment Company was founded in 2009 by Principal Mike Burch, a seasoned multifamily Investor/Broker, and a top producer with all 4 of the companies he has worked for since 1983. Rowan Investment Company specializes in the investment and acquisition of multi-family properties with an emphasis on finding value-add opportunities.

About Our Founder

Mike Burch started his career in Commercial Real Estate, specializing in the sale of all kinds of commercial investment properties. Mike spent 16 years as Regional Director for Marcus & Millichap where he was responsible for the management of 5 regional offices. Prior to forming Rowan Properties, Mr. Burch was the Vice President of Multifamily at Grubb & Ellis and a Senior Investment Advisor at Hendricks-Berkadia (formerly Hendricks & Partners). Mr. Burch has been involved in the acquisition of investment properties for his own account since 1985. Many of these investments have been acquired thru Limited Partnerships where Mike is the General Partner and /or a limited partner with asset management responsibilities.

Investment Philosophy

We recognize that finding investment opportunities is a direct result of seeing as many deals as possible, most of which may not be on the market. Our Brokerage Company, Rowan Properties, gives us an advantage where by we see more opportunities than most. That same advantage is true on the “sell-side”, as we know who the most like Buyer’s are and how to access them.
Our investment strategy includes:

• Conservative underwriting with an emphasis on creating current cash flow
• Maintaining the quality of the property through continued capital improvements
• Strong property management with an emphasis on cost efficient operations
• Long-term non-recourse debt

Acquisition Criteria

Rowan Investment Company seeks to acquire properties that meet the following criteria:

• B & C Class properties with a strong preference of location over quality of asset
• 75-300 units
• DFW Metroplex and tertiary markets within 150 miles
• Conventional garden & student housing properties
• Rehab opportunities
• Under performing properties


All of our investments are purchased in single asset entities such as Limited Liability Companies or Limited Partnerships, with Rowan Investment Company as the General Partner & Managing Member. Most of our investments include a preferred return to the investor, paid out of the property’s cash flow. Any cash flow or profit above the preferred return will be split between investors and the general partner as agreed.
